Parish Gift Aid Scheme
|
About Gift Aid: |
The Parish can reclaim the tax on the money given to the church via Gift Aid. By using Gift Aid, for every £1 you give, the parish will receive a total of £1.25. |
To ask questions: |
For all matters relating to Gift Aid within the parish, please contact the Parish Office 0118 971 5350 |
Last Year: |
Last year we reclaimed £13,500. Thank you! |
Rules: |
The rules that govern the scheme are very simple. You do not have to commit yourself to how much or how often you give, but your donations must be verifiable for auditing purposes. The easiest way for the parish is if you make your offerings by standing order. However, numbered and dated envelopes are available if you prefer. |
Government Regulations: |
Government regulations do not allow the parish to reclaim the tax on anonymous donations, for example "loose money" donated in the collection. |
A brief summary of the Gift Aid rules are that donors must: |
Pay enough UK income tax and/or capital gains tax themselves to cover the amount of tax the parish will reclaim
Also give the parish a gift aid declaration, which should include:
- their name
- their home address
- the name of the parish
- details of the donation – saying that it is a gift aid donation
- confirmation that they have paid UK tax – to cover the tax the parish will reclaim.
