Our Events
Spring 2016
- In Spring 2016 we held special coffee sessions at each of our three churches to introduce Laudato Si' to the community. We put together a 15-minute video about Laudato Si’ which was shown on a large screen. This was followed by discussion and refreshments; nearly 100 people attended these sessions.
- These are some of the videos that were incorporated into our 15-minute video:
- Franciscan Friar explains Laudato Si’ and sings a beautiful song
- Bishop Baron shares thoughts about Laudato Si’ on the day it was launched in June 2015
- Top ten things you need to know about Laudato Si’
May 2016
- In May 2016 we encouraged all parishioners to take a look at their own ecological footprint. We created a special insert into our weekly bulletin that included:
- Information from the leaflet “Nine Ways to Live Gently on this Earth” published by Green Christian
- Information on organisations in the local Reading area that will take hard to re-cycle items

Celebration of Creation ~ On June 12th 2016 we held a parish celebration in Pangbourne that brought together the communities of each of our three churches into a single service. (Our order of service may be downloaded here)
This was a wonderful service in which we joined in praise for the Lord and his creation. We had special songs and readings. We also prepared a Creation Candle which we continue to burn at St. Bernadette’s. Our choir master arranged a version of the Laudato Si’ song we heard from the Franciscan friar.
We then took practical care of creation around us by planting a new tree in the St. Bernadette’s garden and established a new 'children’s' garden, with the help of children from across the parish. We also had a stall with practical demonstrations of bees and bee keeping by John and Caroline, local Pangbourne beekeepers.- Summary of events of June 12th
